Very little is known of Johann Ignaz Stranensky other than he was Swedish and lived about the turn of the 19th Century. Some references have indicated that this octet was his only Partita for wind. The provenance of this piece should be treated with caution as this edition was taken from a hand copy of another manuscript. The markings are not definitive and are presented as a guide to modern performance.
