"These two arrangements are in four parts throughout, with only brief optional divisi in the soprano part. They have been successfully performed and enjoyed with both large choirs and one-to-a-part consorts. "Ev'ry time I feel the spirit" is contemplative enough to be suited to church worship, whilst "Cotton needs a pickin'" builds into a climatic jam-session before subsiding to a wittily subdued conclusion."Malcolm Pearce
